There are many perks and benefits to being an active member of Kentucky SHAPE, below is to quickly highlight two of those: awards and leadership opportunities.
Kentucky SHAPE annually recognizes the best of the best from the state of Kentucky via the Teacher of the Year (TOY) program! Kentucky teachers that win the state teacher of the year then are eligible to compete for District and National Teacher of the Year with SHAPE America. KYSHAPE also annually recognizes numerous other awards for contributions to the field of health, physical education, recreation, dance and allied fields. KYSHAPE also annually requests nominations for the Kentucky SHAPE Board of Directors. There are numerous opportunities of leadership available. The majority of all board leadership positions come with serving and learning as an “elect” position before assuming the official responsibilities. There are also many other volunteer leadership positions available that are non-elected positions, if you are interested in getting more involved just email President-elect Gavin Washington for more information.
