KY SHAPE – Kentucky SHAPE News Blast

Beyond the annual National Convention, SHAPE America is planning three regionally based Professional Learning Institutes in 2020 with the largest of those events being in Louisville August 3-5th! This event will take the place of the annual KY SHAPE State Convention.  This event will take place prior to the official start dates for most school districts meaning that all three days can count toward your annual professional development requirements. Start the discussions now with your local PD coordinator in planning your professional development.

*KY SHAPE/Kentucky SHAPE members that host a health.moves.minds. event in 2020, can apply their fundraising efforts to help offset the costs of attending this national event. Contact us at kentuckyahperd@gmail.com for questions.

Speaking of health.moves.minds., SHAPE America President and our Executive Director Jamie Sparks traveled to Missouri yesterday to fulfill his first of three tattoo challenges. Missouri became the first state to sign up 160 schools, Kentucky remains in 2nd place in this challenge and we need your help!  Visit www.healthmovesminds.org to sign up today and help us make sure that Kentucky is the next state to reach our sign-up goal.  Kentucky is the only state to still offer up to 75% back on the fundraising platform, contact our state HMM coordinator Angela Stark for questions about implementing the program in your school and community! Remember it is absolutely free to sign-up, no pressure to fund raise if you just want access to the free SEL based curricular lessons.

SUMMER PD OPPORTUNITIES

The KY SHAPE/KY SHAPE Board will meet in early March to plan and schedule professional development and learning opportunities in 2020. If your school or district would like be considered as a host site for a 1 day workshop in the summer of 2020 please contact us at kentuckyahperd@gmail.com. We would like to host 3-4 six hour PD credit days in various regions of the state. Stay tuned for the official announcement of dates and locations.  **Discounted costs will be applied to all schools that are signed up with health.moves.minds.
