KYSHAPE was well represented at SHAPE America’s Speak Out Day in Washington, D.C., where our dedicated team of educators and leaders met with legislators to advocate for quality health and physical education in Kentucky schools. This year’s KYSHAPE contingency included Kara Young (National Health Education Teacher of the Year), Casey Page (National High School PE Teacher of the Year), Jamie Sparks (Executive Director), MeMe Ratliff (President), LaDonda Porter (Past-President), Angela Stark (President-Elect), and Robin Walker (SHAPE America Board of Directors member and KYSHAPE Past-President), who is also a candidate for SHAPE America President. Together, they championed policies that support student well-being, health equity, and increased funding for PE and health programs. Their efforts helped ensure Kentucky’s voice is heard at the national level as we continue to push for healthier, more active schools. |
